Mission Statement
Our mission as God's church is
to create a spirit of oneness with Jesus Christ as our example, enabling
us to reach out to people in Hallsville and the surrounding communities.
Background Information
Before there were beautiful brick church buildings or even crude
frame or log churches in the Hallsville area, the people recognized a
need to worship God and worked together to construct a brush arbor under
the shadow of a clump of ash trees. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ward, who
came here in the 1850's, donated some acreage for a place of worship.
The people at this time were not financially able to build a church, so
they worshipped under the brush arbor when weather permitted and in
homes when the weather was not suitable.
In September
of 1984, the sixth and current house of worship for First Baptist Church
of Hallsville was completed. This building is colonial style
architecture with red brick to match the 1952 building which joins it on
the west side.
As one
approaches downtown Hallsville from the south on Highway 450, upon
topping a hill a few blocks from the front of the church, the front
entrance and steeple of this building offer a beautiful and inspiring
view.
